ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — Two days after breaking his left arm, Washington Redskins long snapper Nick Sundberg was placed on injured reserve.
The Cal product’s heroics earned him national attention this week for continuing to play after sustaining the fracture in Sunday’s upset victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Sundberg must sit at least the next eight weeks after the Redskins designated him for return. Teams may now use that designation on one player per season.
The team signed Justin Snow, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts, to take his place on the roster.
Snow, 35, was among the group of long snappers to be auditioned Tuesday morning at Redskins Park.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound veteran originally signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor in 2000.
After appearing in 192 regular season games, Indianapolis released Snow in August.
